Giovanni Polizzi, MRCPsych FInstPsychoanal
I trained in Medicine and Neurology in Italy. Over twenty years ago I moved to the UK and went on to become a Psychoanalyst and a Psychiatrist. Today I am fully registered with the General Medical Council, a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists since 2001, and a Specialist in Neurology (since 1997) and Psychotherapy since 2005. I qualified as a Psychoanalyst of the British Psychoanalytical Society in 2007 and became a Fellow of the Institute of Psychoanalysis in 2014, currently registered with the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC). My own experience of Psychoanalysis and the growing evidence of the effectiveness of Psychoanalytical Psychotherapies supports my development as a clinician. Today I practice as a Psychoanalyst, also offering psychiatric assessments and consultations, short and long-term psychoanalytic psychotherapies. I also work part-time as a Consultant Psychiatrist in South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, leading a clinical service for people with Personality Disorders. I train and supervise mental health professionals from a variety of backgrounds, also offering formal teaching and facilitation of reflective practice. I see people suffering from anxiety, depression, psychosomatic problems, relationship issues, personality, and other mental disorders. Each one of my clients is different and each one of them deserves time, careful listening and my best efforts to help with their mental pain.
